My brother and I used to watch this movie all the time when we were kids. We may have watched it as many times as we watched The Sound of Music. But maybe not. I feel weird admitting this, but it’s not infrequently that I think of Schmendrick the Magician. And it wasn’t until I looked up the IMDB page to grab that link that I discovered the amazing cast from this film. Of course I loved Schmendrick – he was voiced by Alan Arkin!

This was my FAVORITE movie when I was 8 or 9. Well this and Barbarella but that’s more a comment on the lack of parenting I received and not my cinematic tastes. Anyway I had the VHS tape of The Last Unicorn and I watched it as often as I could.
I just bought this movie at Target about 5 months ago. It was the first movie I ever saw with a bad word in it. That word was “damn.”
